Product Description
GNOME – EGG COZY
These cute gnomes keep your boiled eggs warm and cozy until you are ready to eat them. The gnome‘s hat can easily be removed so that you can quickly take out your boiled egg at any time.
You could also make an advent calendar for chocolate eggs out of them. :)
You can use any DK yarn you like.
With lighter yarn the figure will be smaller, with heavier yarn it will be bigger. Standard-sized eggs won't fit then anymore though.

Gnome Egg Cozy Crochet Pattern
What Is Being Made
This pattern creates decorative gnome-themed egg cozies designed to fit standard-sized eggs. The egg cozy is a small, functional craft project that combines whimsical gnome styling with practical kitchen utility. These charming pieces are perfect for adding a festive touch to breakfast tables or as handmade gifts for craft enthusiasts.
Skill Level and Suitability
Rated as a beginner difficulty project, this gnome egg cozy pattern is accessible to crocheters who are just starting their crafting journey. The straightforward construction makes it an ideal first project for learning fundamental crochet techniques while creating a finished item with immediate practical use.
Crochet Techniques Used
This pattern employs several core crochet techniques to construct the gnome egg cozy:
- Magic ring – Recommended as the starting method for creating a seamless center
- Chain stitches – Used to establish foundation rows and structure
- Single crochet – Provides tight, dense stitching for shaping
- Half double crochet – Creates medium-height stitches for building the cozy body
- Double crochet – Used for taller stitches to add dimension and texture
- Slip stitch – Joins rounds and secures stitches to create seamless transitions
- Front loop crocheting – Allows for textured effects by working into only the front loop of stitches
- Back loop crocheting – Creates ribbed or dimensional effects by working into the back loop
- Surface crocheting – Adds embellished details across the finished surface
Yarn and Materials
The pattern is designed for DK weight yarn, with specific recommendations including Puppets Lyric 8/8 or two strands of Sport weight yarn such as Catania Originals. A 3.0 mm crochet hook is specified for achieving the correct gauge and sizing.
Yarn weight flexibility is built into the design: using lighter yarn will create a smaller finished gnome egg cozy, while heavier yarn will produce a taller version. However, the designer notes that using significantly heavier yarn may result in a cozy too large to fit standard-sized eggs, so yarn selection should be considered carefully based on desired final dimensions.
