These little creepy crawlies are quick to knit, and are a super way to use up odds and ends in your yarn stash. This knitting pattern includes instructions to make four toys, including a snail, bumble bee, butterfly and frog. Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the toys are knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round). The arms and legs are i-cord tubes worked on two DPNs. For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, knitting stripes, and seaming to finish. The snail shell uses short rows (wrap and turn) for shaping, and the eyeballs are knitted bobbles.
Frogs and Bugs is a collection of small knitted toy designs created by independent designer Amanda Berry. These adorable creepy crawly creatures are quick-to-knit projects perfect for using up yarn scraps and odds and ends. Each toy is a small, stuffed knitted figure featuring various insects and amphibians, making them ideal for craft enthusiasts looking to create charming handmade toys.
This is a knitting pattern suitable for knitters with intermediate skill level. The toys are constructed using fundamental knitting techniques appropriate for toy making. The pattern utilizes both single-pointed needles and double-pointed needles (DPNs) to create three-dimensional toy shapes. Seaming is required to join pieces together, and basic toy assembly skills are needed to stuff and finish each creature.
While specific stitch abbreviations are referenced in the pattern (including DPNs for double pointed needle work and yarn over techniques), the pattern employs standard knitting stitches common to toy patterns. The toys are knitted in sections and then seamed together using a darning or tapestry needle. This modular construction approach allows crafters to create distinct body parts before assembling the finished toy.
Designed by Amanda Berry and published in 2013, this downloadable PDF pattern offers crafters an accessible intermediate project. The toys are described as quick to knit, making them suitable for both experienced knitters seeking a speedy project and intermediate-level crafters looking to develop their toy-making skills. The use of acrylic yarn makes these toys durable and easy-care, perfect for handmade gifts or personal collection pieces.
