What is Being Made

These are five-size knitted gloves designed to fit a range of hand sizes from child through large adult. The pattern includes five distinct sizing options: Child (to fit hand 12-14cm), Teen/Small Adult (14-16cm), Women/Small Men (16-18cm), Men/Large Women (18-20cm), and Large Men (20-22cm). Hand measurement is taken around the hand just above the thumb to determine the correct size. The gloves are mirrored, meaning left and right gloves are created separately with careful attention to shaping instructions to ensure proper fit and symmetry.

Knitting Techniques Used

This beginner-friendly pattern employs fundamental knitting techniques suitable for those new to glove construction. The gloves are worked in the round, utilizing circular needles or double-pointed needles for seamless construction. Key shaping techniques include increases created through make-one stitches (M1 and M1L methods) to expand the fabric where needed, and decreases using knit-two-together (K2tog) reductions to shape the glove structure. The mirrored construction requires careful attention to directional shaping to create matching left and right gloves.

Stitches Used

• Double Moss Stitch (DM) – The primary textured stitch used on the hand portion of the gloves, which creates extra warmth and visual interest through its reversible, bumpy texture

Yardage requirements vary by size: approximately 100 meters (110 yards) for Child size, 140 meters (155 yards) for Teen/Small Adult, 180 meters (195 yards) for Women/Small Men, 220 meters (240 yards) for Men/Large Women, and 260 meters (285 yards) for Large Men. The double knitting yarn combined with the double moss stitch texture provides enhanced warmth, making these gloves suitable for cold-weather wear.
