Product Description
The Felicity Hat is a beautiful and comfortable hat that is worked from the bottom up.
We begin by working the hat band back and forth in rows and then the main hat body is added right to the band. This hat is worked as one piece from start to finish and it is shaped to follow the top of the head.
The hat is tapered to fit to the curve of the head so there is not a lot of extra fabric or weight pulling on the back of the hat.
Soft, comfortable and intriguing with it’s changing crochet stitch pattern, this lovely hat is sure to make a statement in your Fall Wardrobe.
If you love the design and would like to make a matching scarf to go with it, I have a pattern for that!
I have included instructions in the notes in the sizing section of the written pattern to explain how you can make this hat larger (for an Adult Large size) and smaller (for a child/toddler size).
Felicity Crochet Hat by Rhondda
What is Being Made
The Felicity Hat is a crocheted beanie-style hat designed by Rhondda of Oombawka Design, Ltd. This downloadable crochet pattern produces a finished hat measuring 9 inches in height (with stretch capacity to 10 inches) and 20 inches in circumference when laid flat. The design is suitable for crafters seeking an accessible intermediate-level project that delivers a wearable, finished accessory.
Craft and Techniques
This pattern uses crochet as the primary construction method. Crochet is a fiber arts technique that creates fabric using a single hook to form interlocking loops of yarn. The Felicity Hat employs fundamental crochet techniques appropriate for an easy-intermediate skill level, making it an ideal project for crafters with basic crochet experience who wish to develop their abilities. The pattern incorporates standard crochet construction methods suitable for hat shaping and sizing.
Stitches and Construction
While specific stitch-by-stitch details are not fully visible in the provided pattern excerpt, the Felicity Hat utilizes essential crochet stitches common to hat construction. Crafters will need basic familiarity with fundamental crochet stitches and techniques to complete this project successfully.

- Hooks: Two crochet hooks required—4 mm (G) and 5 mm (H) sizes

Yarn Weight and Fiber Content
The Felicity Hat pattern calls for aran weight yarn (also classified as Medium Weight [4]), which provides excellent stitch definition and relatively quick project completion compared to lighter yarn weights. The 100% acrylic fiber content offers durability, easy care, and accessibility for crafters of all budgets. The specified yardage of approximately 100 grams ensures the finished hat uses minimal yarn while still providing adequate fabric for a comfortable, stretchy fit.
