Product Description
The first time I touched Bare Naked Wools 'Confection' I knew two things: 1) I wanted to wrap myself in the yarn and 2) it would be a dream to knit. The natural colours of the yarn made choosing just one difficult so I selected two shades of grey and the natural, figuring I’d come up with a pattern later. Soon after this cowl sprang fully designed into my dreams and quickly flew off my needles, and shortly thereafter it was followed by this matching hat. I have some beach stone buttons and knew these irregular buttons were perfect to go with the rustic, natural qualities of the yarn and used one on the decorative tab on the hat.
Pattern contains both written and charted instructions.
Yarn: 80 (90, 100) yards/73 (82, 91.5) meters of merino/wool worsted weight yarn that knits up to 3.75-4.5 sts/inch.
Skills Required: • Lace • Working in the round • Increasing and decreasing • Following charts • Blocking
Every Which Way Hat by Janelle Martin
What Is Being Made
The Every Which Way Hat is a knitted hat designed by Janelle Martin, available in three sizes to fit head circumferences up to 18 inches (Small), 21 inches (Medium), and 24 inches (Large). The finished blocked dimensions range from 16.75 inches for the Small size to 20.5 inches for the Large size. This intermediate-level knitting project features a decorative tab embellished with a beach stone button, adding rustic charm to the finished garment.
Techniques Used
This knitting pattern employs charted colorwork techniques, as evidenced by the gauge measurement taken over Chart A. The design incorporates decorative shaping with a functional tab detail that showcases the irregular beach stone button. The pattern was developed to complement Bare Naked Wools 'Confection' yarn, taking advantage of the yarn's natural color variations. The hat is designed to be blocked after completion to achieve the specified finished dimensions.
Stitches and Stitch Patterns
The pattern utilizes charted stitch patterns, specifically referencing Chart A for gauge purposes. The construction involves working from a chart, which typically includes various knit and purl combinations or colorwork sequences. The decorative tab requires shaping techniques appropriate to an advanced beginner skill level.
