Product Description
The Dried Lavender Shawl was originally made in collaboration with Yarnz for their Project Club (you can still buy the kit from Yarnz). It can be made using two kinds of yarns, Balayage from Pascuali and Eco-Fusion from Nurturing Fibres.. The instructions are almost the same (except for the final rows), the only difference is that the shawl made with Eco-Fusion is slightly smaller. The construction of this shawl is quite basic with 4 increases every time you work the right side and it’s worked flat so I wanted to make this shawl interesting with different stitches and playing with 3 colours.

Project Overview
The Dried Lavender Shawl is an intermediate-level knitting project designed as a downloadable PDF pattern. Originally created in collaboration with Yarnz for their Project Club, this shawl offers flexibility in yarn selection, with instructions provided for two distinct yarn options: Balayage from Pascuali and Eco-Fusion from Nurturing Fibres. The pattern demonstrates how thoughtful stitch variation and color play can elevate a straightforward construction method into a visually compelling finished piece.
Construction and Design Approach
The shawl is worked flat using a basic construction technique with consistent increases on every right-side row—specifically 4 increases per right-side row throughout the project. Rather than relying on complex shaping, the designer creates visual interest through strategic use of different knitting stitches and a three-color palette. This approach makes the pattern accessible to intermediate knitters while maintaining design sophistication.
Stitch Techniques
The pattern incorporates multiple stitch variations throughout the design to create texture and visual depth. While the foundational construction remains consistent, the interplay of different stitches across the piece provides the primary design element, allowing knitters to develop their stitch repertoire while working on a wearable accessory.
Yarn and Materials
This is a 4-ply weight yarn project. Two yarn options are available:
- Balayage from Pascuali: Requires 3 balls in main color 606 (150 g, 525 m), 2 balls in contrasting color 600 (100 g, 350 m), and 1 ball in contrasting color 601 (50 g, 175 m)
- Eco-Fusion from Nurturing Fibres: Specifications provided in pattern documentation
Finished Measurements
The shawl dimensions vary slightly depending on yarn choice due to yarn weight differences:
- Balayage Version: 195 cm (76.7 inches) long and 88 cm (34.6 inches) wide, measured without tassels
- Eco-Fusion Version: 188 cm (74 inches) long and 87 cm (34.2 inches) wide, measured without tassels
Skill Level and Suitability
Rated as an intermediate knitting project, the Dried Lavender Shawl is suitable for knitters with foundational skills who are ready to explore stitch variation and color work. The basic increase pattern provides a predictable structure, while the stitch and color elements offer opportunities for creative engagement and skill development.
