The Dominique Jacket is a beautifully structured women's cardigan knitting pattern designed by Debbie Bliss, worked in the brand's Piper yarn. This intermediate-level pattern produces a classic, elegant jacket with a refined striped texture, making it a versatile wardrobe staple suitable for a wide range of bust sizes. The finished garment is a seamed, shaped cardigan with set-in or structured sleeves, knitted flat in pieces and assembled for a polished, tailored result.
The Dominique is a women's knitted jacket or cardigan featuring a two-colour stripe pattern, button front fastening, and a fitted silhouette. It is designed to fit bust measurements ranging from 76–81 cm (30–32 in) up to 117–122 cm (46–48 in), with five size options in total. Finished bust measurements span from 83 cm (32¾ in) to 123 cm (48½ in), offering a modest amount of positive ease across all sizes.
The garment length to shoulder ranges from 60 cm (23½ in) to 68 cm (26¾ in) depending on the size, and the sleeve length is a consistent 44 cm (17¼ in) across all sizes. The jacket closes with 6 buttons, giving it a neat, structured front opening. The result is a wearable, sophisticated piece that combines texture and colour in a timeless design.
The Dominique Jacket is constructed using a bottom-up, worked-flat, seamed method. This means each section of the garment — the back, fronts, and sleeves — is knitted separately as flat pieces, beginning at the lower cast-on edge and working upward toward the shoulder. Once all pieces are complete, they are joined together using seaming, which gives the finished jacket its structured, tailored shape and clean edges.
The Dominique uses a combination of standard knitting stitches and a distinctive textured pattern stitch that creates the visual interest of the stripe design. The pattern stitch is worked over a specific row repeat using both knit and purl stitches alongside a slip-stitch technique.
The tension (gauge) for this pattern is 24 stitches and 46 rows to 10 cm / 4 in over
