Dolphin Hat

Approximately 40 dolphin species inhabit all types of aquatic environments, from freshwater to oceans. Now an embroidered pod can encircle your head on this warm and cozy worsted weight hat.

The hat is a one or two-color single brim watch cap knit in the round on a 16" circular needle or Magic Loop. The worsted weight yarn has a gauge of 17 stitches = 4"/10cm. I used Red Heart Super Saver for the samples, though any similar weight yarn will work.

The dolphins are embroidered in duplicate stitch (also called knit embroidery or Swiss darning), and this pattern assumes a knowledge of this technique. Complete charts are included.
