Product Description

I used a special material that everyone can find to crochet this house but it's optional. It keeps its form perfectly. Different yarns and threads and colors of your choice can be used. It's a cute pattern that can be used as home decor or a toy and it will probably give other ideas. This funny project is perfect for spring and summer but you can change and adapt it to any other season (for Christmas in winter for example).

This is one of my innovative projects and I share my secrets with you in this pattern, so please, do not reveal them.

Crochet Amigurumi Toy House for Home Decor

What is Being Made

This is a decorative crochet house design created by Eléna Lepêretre for Naturofils. The project produces a three-dimensional amigurumi-style toy house suitable for home decor displays. The structure incorporates dimensional elements and charming details that make it an attractive decorative piece for shelves, desks, or other interior spaces.

Crochet Techniques Used

The construction of this crochet house employs several intermediate-level crochet techniques. The design utilizes surface slip stitching, which involves picking up the hook on the right side of an already crocheted piece and drawing yarn through the work to create surface details and embellishments. This technique adds visual interest and dimensional features to the finished house structure. The pattern also incorporates both front loop and back loop only stitching variations, allowing the crocheter to create textural differences and structural definition throughout the piece.

Stitches Used

  • Chain stitch (ch) - used for foundational rows and construction elements
  • Single crochet (sc) - the primary stitch for building the house structure
  • Back loop only (BLO) - creates textural variation and ribbed effects
  • Front loop (FL) - provides alternative stitch placement for dimensional details
  • Surface slip stitch - applied to the right side of completed sections for decorative embellishments and surface details

Materials and Tools

The project calls for Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran in two primary colors: one skein each of #654 Blush Pink (A) and #611 Coffee Bean (B), along with DMC Natura Just Cotton in #89 for additional detail work. Additional orange yarn is required for creating a flower embellishment. The yarn weights used include Aran, DK, and Worsted weights, providing versatility in the construction process.

Essential tools include a US Size E-4 (3.5mm) crochet hook for the primary construction and a US Size 4 (2.0mm) crochet hook for finer detail work. The pattern incorporates seven champagne muselets—the wire cages or caps that hold cork closures found on sparkling wine, cidre, beer bottles, and alcohol-free sparkling drinks—as decorative or structural elements. Standard wire can be substituted if muselets are unavailable. Additional materials include pliers (lineman's, bent nose, needle-nose, or round-nose varieties), a tapestry needle for finishing, and scissors.

Difficulty Level

This project is rated as Intermediate difficulty, making it suitable for crocheters with foundational skills who are ready to tackle more complex stitch combinations and three-dimensional shaping. The use of specialized techniques like surface slip stitching and the manipulation of wire elements requires some experience and dexterity.
