Product Description
Say hello to Cookie the Kitty! Cookie’s favourite hobby is baking, she loves it so much she decided to open her own little bakery shop called Cookies and Paws where she sells her most delicious treats. You’ll always find Cookie in her cute kitchen with her heart apron, probably baking a delicious pumpkin pie or a strawberry cake for her lovely friend Berry the Bunny. Yummy!
The pattern is written in U.S. terminology and contains step-by-step pictures. The main part of this project is worked in rounds so you might want to use a stitch marker to mark the end of each round. There is no specific gauge for this project, just try to keep it tight and even throughout each piece. All pieces are made in Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK yarn, but any similar DK weight yarn will work. This project is worked with a 3mm crochet hook and uses 8mm safety eyes. If you use a different yarn fiber you might need to adapt the size of the safety eyes.
Cookie the Kitty Crochet Pattern
Project Overview
Cookie the Kitty is a beginner-friendly amigurumi toy pattern designed by Andreia Ferreira of Lemon Yarn Creations. This downloadable crochet pattern provides instructions for creating an adorable stuffed cat toy, perfect for crafters new to amigurumi and three-dimensional crochet projects.
What You'll Create
This pattern guides you through making a cute crocheted kitty toy using fundamental amigurumi techniques. The finished piece is a soft, huggable stuffed cat suitable as a handmade gift, decorative toy, or keepsake for crochet enthusiasts of all ages.
Crochet Techniques
Cookie the Kitty employs essential amigurumi construction methods, which involve creating three-dimensional forms by crocheting in continuous rounds. The pattern utilizes the fundamental approach of working in spiral rounds to build the toy's body and features without visible seams between rows.
Stitches Used
- Single Crochet (sc) – the primary stitch for building amigurumi fabric with tight, even texture
- Slip Stitch (sl st) – used for joining rounds and securing yarn
- Increases and Decreases – shaping techniques to form the kitty's rounded body, head, and features
Materials Required
This pattern is designed for DK weight yarn, a medium-light yarn that creates appropriately-sized stitches for a small stuffed toy. You'll need a crochet hook sized appropriately for DK yarn (typically a 3.5–4mm hook), polyester fiberfill for stuffing, and a yarn needle for weaving in ends and assembling pieces.
Skill Level
Rated as a beginner pattern, Cookie the Kitty is ideal for crocheters who are comfortable with basic stitches and ready to explore their first amigurumi project. The straightforward construction and simple shaping make it an excellent introduction to toy-making.
