Chocolate Heart

Chocolate Heart is a simple colour-block knitted placemat pattern, own design by Blue Balloon Atelier. Very satisfying and frugal pattern. It can be made rather quickly and it uses very little yarn, often scraps from much bigger projects. Of course if you make only one placemat.

The project is using intarsia technic which may not be the choice for a beginner, but, in fact, the design is simple enough to be used by a confident beginner. It is a great project to start working with intarsia- quick to knit, simple but striking design, so the result is very satisfying. Although the project is so small, you will create a finished and practical product!

The sample is made using Deramores Studio Chunky Acrylic yarn. Any simillar chunky acrylic or cotton [or combination of the above] can be used. I would not recommend too high wool content, as the placemat will be washed frequently.
