Product Description
The sweater is designed to be worn form either side with a v in the back and the twist in the front or visa versa. I preferre the twist in the front.
I designed the pattern for a friend who had sent me a picture of the knitted version. As a good crocheter i did the impossible and here you have the pattern.
The pattern is made up of seveal piece 2 front panels a back panel and 2 sleeves if you whish to make them.
In the pattern the yarn is marked wrong i used 6 balls of Phildar phil Looping NOT Bergere de France Looping.
you could also use DMC knitty 6 you will need more yarn as the looping is lighter and you have more yardage, but the gauge is the same.
you will also need stitch markers to mark certain stitch, a measuring tape tapestry needle and scissors.
Celine's Twisted Sweater by e.neshacrochet
What is Being Made
Celine's twisted sweater is a crocheted pullover garment designed in two sizes: S/M (to fit 34-38 inch chest) and M/L (to fit 38-42 inch chest). The sweater is constructed from separate pieces—two front panels, one back piece, and two sleeves—that are crocheted individually and then assembled. An optional sleeveless version is also included in the pattern.
Crochet Techniques and Construction
This beginner-friendly crochet project uses fundamental techniques suitable for those new to the craft. The sweater is primarily worked with an 8mm crochet hook, with the 5mm hook used for specific finishing details as indicated throughout the pattern instructions. The garment employs a straightforward piece-by-piece construction method, allowing crafters to work on manageable sections before joining them together to create the finished sweater.
Stitches Used
The pattern utilizes essential crochet stitches that form the foundation of beginner projects:
- Chain stitch (ch): The foundation stitch used to create the base for rows
- Half double crochet (hdc): The primary stitch used throughout the body of the sweater, creating a dense, structured fabric
- Half double crochet 2 together (hdc2tog): A decrease stitch used for shaping the garment
- Slip stitch (ss): Used for joining pieces and finishing edges
- Single crochet (sc): An additional stitch available in the pattern's abbreviation set
Materials and Yarn Specifications
Celine's twisted sweater is worked in bulky weight yarn, with the pattern calling for 6 balls total. The designer used Bergere de France looping yarn for the original version. The bulky weight yarn creates a quick-working project with visible stitch definition and a warm, textured fabric suitable for cooler weather wear.
Additional materials required include an 8mm crochet hook as the primary tool and a 5mm crochet hook for specific sections, a stitch marker for tracking your place in the pattern, scissors for yarn cutting, a tapestry needle for weaving in ends and seaming pieces together, and a measuring tape for checking gauge and garment measurements during construction.
Gauge and Sizing
The pattern specifies a gauge of 10 x 10 centimeters (4 x 4 inches) equaling 8 rows by 10 stitches when worked with the recommended yarn and 8mm hook. Achieving proper gauge is essential for ensuring the finished sweater fits the intended chest measurements.
