Product Description
This is a corner to corner crochet version of my Tiny Giraffe chart, this version includes a c2c picture chart and a colour-coded written version for those who prefer to follow worded instructions. I have also included a "how to corner to corner crochet" guide for those who might not have crocheted an image. The guide also has a border option for those who may want to add a decorative edge to their finished blanket.
The finished blanket will be a different size depending on the yarn you use (using 4ply gives you a lovely baby blanket size)

C2C - Tiny Giraffe Corner to Corner Blanket
Project Overview
The C2C - Tiny Giraffe is a corner to corner crochet blanket designed by Instarsia and created by EJHeywood. This downloadable PDF pattern features a charted design of a tiny giraffe, making it an ideal project for crafters looking to combine colorwork with the popular corner-to-corner crochet technique. The finished blanket measures 82 stitches by 82 stitches, creating a substantial throw-sized piece suitable for home décor or gifting.
Crochet Technique: Corner to Corner (C2C)
Corner to corner crochet is a method where the blanket is constructed diagonally, beginning at one corner and building outward in a square formation. This technique is particularly effective for creating pixel-based graphical designs and allows crafters to follow a chart pattern similar to cross-stitch or knitting charts. The C2C method produces a fabric with a distinctive texture and is known for its versatility in accommodating complex color changes and detailed imagery.
Colorwork and Design
The pattern utilizes a five-color palette to bring the giraffe design to life:
- Denim (1429 stitches)
- White (38 stitches)
- Yellow (165 stitches)
- Brown (64 stitches)
- Black (6 stitches)
- Meadow (14 stitches)
The color distribution shows that Denim serves as the dominant background color, while Yellow and Brown create the giraffe's characteristic spotted pattern. The minimal use of Black adds fine detail work, likely for the giraffe's eyes and features.
Materials and Yarn Weight
This pattern is designed for DK weight yarn, a medium-weight yarn that provides excellent stitch definition and is ideal for detailed colorwork projects. DK yarn allows stitches to remain visible and defined, making it easier to follow the chart pattern and achieve clean color transitions. Crafters will need a crochet hook appropriate for DK yarn, typically in the range of US sizes E/4 (3.5mm) to F/5 (3.75mm), depending on personal tension and desired fabric drape.
Difficulty Level
Rated as intermediate difficulty, this project is suitable for crocheters with foundational skills who are ready to tackle color changes and chart-based pattern work. The corner-to-corner technique requires understanding of diagonal construction and the ability to manage multiple yarn colors throughout the project. Crafters should be comfortable with basic crochet stitches and have experience reading charts before beginning.
Pattern Versatility
The Instarsia chart provided with this pattern is interchangeable across multiple crafts. While designed for corner to corner crochet, the same chart can be adapted for traditional knitting or other crochet methods. This flexibility makes the pattern a valuable resource for crafters who wish to explore different techniques while maintaining the same giraffe design.
