Product Description
This pattern is available for FREE on my Blog, or you can purchase the ad-free pdf here!
The Buffalo Plaid Cozy pattern is the perfect way to add a little something to a Mason Jar or 3 Wick Candle! As a bonus, this pattern includes the instructions for the Pencil Mason Jar and Candle Cozy pattern too!
If giving the 3 Wick Cozy as a gift, please attach a note reminding that the Cozy is just for gift-wrapping/decoration purposes only, and should not be used while a Candle is burning!
All of my patterns have been tested by several accomplished pattern testers and designers to ensure that you are getting a pattern free of mistakes and is easy to follow.
Please note that all my patterns are written in standard American terms.
Buffalo Plaid Mason Jar Cozy
What is Being Made
The Buffalo Plaid Mason Jar Cozy is a decorative crocheted cover designed by Sincerely Pam that fits both a pint-sized mason jar and a 3-wick candle. The cozy measures 3 inches in diameter and 4.5 inches in height for the mason jar, with the 3-wick candle version measuring 4 inches in diameter and 4 inches in height. Important safety note: The 3-wick candle cozy is for decoration and gift wrapping only and should never be worn while the candle is burning.
Crochet Techniques and Stitches
This intermediate-level crochet project is worked in one piece from the bottom up, using fundamental crochet techniques and stitches. The pattern utilizes the following stitches:
- Chain (ch): The foundation stitch used to create the base of the project
- Single Crochet (sc): A basic short stitch that creates a tight, dense fabric
- Double Crochet (dc): A taller stitch that adds height and drape to the fabric
- Slip Stitch (slst): Used to join rounds and create seamless transitions
- Back Loop Only (BLO): A technique where the hook enters only the back loop of a stitch, creating textured ribbing or striped effects
The pattern begins with a black yarn foundation and is constructed in rows, with the opening note that the beginning chain-1 does not count as a stitch throughout the pattern.
Materials and Tools
The Buffalo Plaid Mason Jar Cozy requires worsted weight yarn in three colors to achieve the buffalo plaid pattern effect. The sample shown was made using Loops and Threads Impeccable yarn. An H (5 mm) crochet hook is used for this project. Additional tools needed include a tapestry needle for weaving in ends and a measuring tape to ensure proper sizing during construction.
