What is Being Made

Brielle is a downloadable knitting pattern for a pair of cabled socks designed to fit an average woman's foot. The finished socks feature a cuff circumference of 8 inches (20.25cm) when unstretched and measure 7½ inches (19cm) in height from cuff to floor, with adjustable length options. This is a one-size pattern suitable for standard women's sock sizing.

Knitting Techniques

The Brielle socks are constructed using the cuff-down method, a popular technique where knitting begins at the cuff and progresses downward toward the foot and heel. The pattern employs circular needle knitting for seamless construction in the round, with instructions provided for working on two circular needles. The pattern includes a strategic stitch marker shift technique to adjust the beginning of round placement, demonstrating intermediate-level construction methods.

The sock features cable stitch patterning as a primary design element, with the pattern worked over multiple chart sections. The cuff begins with Chart/Pattern A, which is worked over the initial 2.5cm (1 inch) from the cast-on edge. This transitions into Chart/Pattern B, which is repeated twice per round and continues until the desired length to the top of the heel is achieved.
