Birch Leaves: Skolt Sámi Knitted Mittens

Birch Leaves is a traditional Skolt Sámi knitted mitten in the customary red and blue colors with a white or natural base. The cuff is beautifully decorated with both kierrekerros, or knitted braid, and the birch leaf motif. The thumb is the conventional peasant or afterthought thumb, the mitten tips and thumb tip are cupped, and the cuff has a four-stranded braid.
