What is Being Made

The Autumn Sweater is an oversized knitted sweater designed for babies in five size options: 3-6 months, 6-9 months, 9-12 months, 12-18 months, and 18-24 months. The sweater is knitted from top to bottom, creating a comfortable, relaxed fit ideal for layering during cooler seasons. Finished chest measurements range from approximately 30cm (12 inches) for the smallest size to 38cm (15 inches) for the largest size.

Techniques Used

This intermediate-level knitting project employs fundamental sweater construction techniques suitable for knitters with some experience. The pattern utilizes top-down knitting methodology, allowing for easy adjustments and seamless fitting as you work. The design incorporates yarn-over increases (yo) for shaping, along with decrease techniques including ssk (slip slip knit) and k2tog (knit two stitches together) to create proper garment shaping. The kfb (knit in front and then back of stitch) technique is also employed for increasing stitches where needed throughout the pattern.
