It was purchased many years ago on the French Iles De la Madeleine, this style hat was often worn by island fisherman.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe original hat was hand knit in traditional colors of un-dyed wool and raw fleece. The raw fleece gives the hat extra warmth often needed when at sea in the colder Northern climates. I gave the hat a modern twist while still maintaining much of the structure.
