Apples of the North Knitted Mittens by Olga Beckmann

Project Overview

Apples of the North is an intermediate-level knitting pattern for mittens designed by Olga Beckmann of LaKalinka. This downloadable PDF pattern offers knitters an opportunity to create a finished pair of mittens using traditional knitting techniques combined with charted colorwork design elements.

What Is Being Made

This pattern produces a pair of mittens suitable for intermediate knitters. The mittens feature a design concept inspired by the pattern's name, Apples of the North, suggesting a thematic or decorative element incorporated into the mitten construction.

Knitting Techniques

  • Charted colorwork knitting for patterned design elements
  • Mitten shaping and construction methods
  • Techniques suitable for intermediate-level knitters seeking to develop their skills beyond basic stockinette stitch projects

Yarn and Materials

The pattern is designed for 4-ply yarn weight, which provides a medium-weight option ideal for mittens that balance warmth with wearability. Knitters will require appropriate needles for 4-ply yarn and the specific yardage indicated in the downloadable pattern instructions.

Pattern Format and Support

This is a downloadable PDF pattern provided by independent designer Olga Beckmann. Knitters with questions about the pattern can contact the designer directly. The designer encourages finished project photos to be shared on social media platforms and Ravelry, tagged with #lakalinkapatterns.
