Product Description

My cousin's doll had cold feet...hmmm what to do? She needs Ugg boots! So the doll ugg boots were born out of neccessity. They fit most 18 in. dolls but were made specifically for AG dolls. I can make them in a wide range of colors to match different outfits. The buttons are NOT functioanal. There is no need. They slip on and off with ease. Even small little hands will have no problems getting them on or off. Best part is THEY STAY ON! They will not just fall off randomly leaving you to look all over the house. They would make a great gift for any girl.

AG or 18in. Doll Ugg Boots by Bella Ewe

Project Overview

These crocheted Ugg boots are designed to fit 18-inch dolls and are created using fundamental crochet techniques combined with shaping methods. This intermediate-level project produces miniature footwear that captures the distinctive silhouette of classic Ugg-style boots through strategic increases and decreases in the crochet structure.

What Is Being Made

The pattern creates a pair of doll-sized Ugg boots featuring a boot construction that begins with a foundation chain and builds upward through circular rounds. The boots are shaped to accommodate the doll's foot with a fitted ankle and leg opening, using both increases and decreases to achieve the characteristic boot form.

Crochet Techniques Used

  • Foundation Chain: The project begins with a chain of 8 stitches, which serves as the base for the boot sole.
  • Circular Shaping: Rounds are worked in the round, joining with slip stitches to create seamless circular construction.
  • Strategic Increases: Multiple increases (2 single crochets in one stitch) are used in early rounds to expand the sole and create the boot's width.
  • Back Loop Only Work: Round 4 is worked in back loops only, creating a textured ridge that adds visual interest and structural definition.
  • Decreasing Techniques: Single crochet 2 together (sc2tog) decreases are incorporated to shape the boot opening and create a fitted ankle.
  • Mixed Stitch Heights: The pattern incorporates both single crochet and double crochet stitches for varied texture and construction.

Stitches Used

  • Chain (ch.): Used for foundation and joining transitions between rounds.
  • Single Crochet (sc): The primary stitch throughout most of the boot construction, providing a tight, dense fabric.
  • Single Crochet 2 Together (sc2tog): A decrease stitch used to reduce stitch count and shape the boot.
  • Double Crochet (dc): Incorporated in later rounds for stitch variation and texture.
  • Slip Stitch: Used to join rounds seamlessly.

Materials and Tools

Yarn: Worsted weight yarn is used for this project. The pattern specifies Sugar 'n Cream brand yarn, which is a common choice for doll clothing due to its affordability and availability in various colors.

Hook: An F hook is recommended, or any hook that achieves a gauge of 4 single crochets per inch. This gauge is essential for proper fit on 18-inch dolls.

Notions: A tapestry needle is needed for weaving in yarn ends upon completion.

Difficulty Level

This project is classified as intermediate difficulty. While it uses basic crochet stitches, the combination of circular construction, strategic shaping through increases and decreases, and the precision required to maintain proper gauge for doll-sized garments makes it suitable for crocheters with foundational skills who are ready to tackle more structured projects.

Construction Method

The boots are constructed from the sole upward through a series of seven rounds (with the pattern continuing beyond the visible excerpt). The first three rounds focus on expanding the sole to the proper width, with stitch counts progressing from 17 to 23 to 27 stitches. Round 4 introduces textural variation by working in back loops only. Subsequent rounds maintain or reduce stitch counts to shape the boot's ankle and opening, creating a fitted garment that will stay securely on a doll's foot.
