The larger version of the pattern uses pattern pieces printed across pages 8 to 15 of the PDF. The body is constructed from multiple fabric panels including a two-part body piece (assembled by taping Body 1/2 and Body 2/2 together before cutting), a top head, a back head, ears, arms, legs, and a tail. A contrasting white or light-colored fabric panel forms the belly and the tail tip, giving the finished toy its realistic fox or wolf coloring. The regular size is well-suited for display or play and offers a satisfying, substantial finished object.

Baby Size Stuffed Fox or Wolf

The baby size version uses pattern pieces found on pages 15 to 19 of the PDF. It follows the same general construction method as the regular size but produces a smaller, more compact stuffed animal. Both sizes can be made as either a fox (using orange fabric) or a wolf (using grey fabric), making this a versatile pattern with multiple finished project possibilities from a single purchase.

Techniques Used

This is an intermediate-level sewing project that combines machine sewing with hand embroidery and hardware installation. Key techniques include:

• Pattern tracing and cutting — pattern pieces are printed at 100% on standard letter-size paper, traced onto folded fabric, and cut with seam allowances already included
• Right-sides-together sewing — all main seams are sewn with fabric pieces placed right sides together before turning
• Seam allowance control — the pattern uses both 1/4-inch seam allowances for structural seams and 1/8-inch seam allowances for attaching ears to the back head piece
• Trimming and turning points — the pointy ears require trimming at the tips and careful turning, using a blunt tool such as a pen or scissors inserted from the inside, or an embroidery needle worked from the outside to push out the point without damaging the fabric
• Fabric panel assembly — the head is constructed from a top head section and a lower head section sewn together, with the nose end gathered slightly as the white fabric bunches naturally at that curve
• Safety eye installation — 14mm safety eyes for plush toys are installed through pre-marked positions on the top head pieces before the head is fully closed and stuffed; the instructions note that the ring should not be closed too tightly at first to allow for adjustment
• Hand embroidery — black embroidery floss and an embroidery needle are used to add the nose and facial details, worked with a sewing needle on the felt nose piece
• Stuffing — polyfill is used to stuff the finished toy to give it its three-dimensional shape
