As a participting designin the in Crochet Cancer Challenge, it's an honor to create a unique crochet hat to raise awareness about a specific type of cancer.
The Stacy Sunhat is named for my friend, whom is a thyroid cancer survivor. By visiting my blog, you can learn about her story. Since she enjoys spending time outside when it's not 115 degrees, as she lives in the desert, I decided to make a large brim to provide adequate shade for the face and shoulders.
If you didn't know, the thryoid ribbon is turquoise, purple and pink. By choosing King Cole Yarn Cotton Top DK, an acrylic and cotton blend yarn, one can create a sturdiness with a fair amount of softness. The softness is important to consider when donating the hat to a cancer patient or survivor.
