Product Details
This jumper is often known as “My First Jumper” – it’s a great project for beginners or for anyone picking up their needles again after a long break.
There’s minimal shaping involved. The back is a simple square with no shaping at all, so it’s perfect for getting used to the rhythm of knit stitch without having to think about anything else.
I love knitting garter stitch. At the end of a busy day, I just want to sit down, breathe and knit something soothing. Garter stitch is my go-to on days like these.
I wear my Philippa Jumper almost every day in winter, so if you’ve visited the Skipton Studio in the colder months, you’ve probably seen me in it!
CONSTRUCTION
The back, front and two sleeves are knitted flat from the bottom up in separate pieces and joined together. The sleeves are drop. The neck edge is picked up and knitted.
TECHNIQUES USED
Cast on, knit, decreasing at neck shaping, increasing on the sleeves. Joining seams. Optional: three needle cast off and mattress stitch.
