The hat can be done as a separate item or as part of a set, to go with Petronela shawl and Petronela fingerless mitts or Petronela mittens.
Both the shawl and the hat feature the same pattern element - the cable, and both can be done either in the same or in different yarn. What’s important while knitting the hat is the gauge, so if you choose to knit the hat in different yarn than the shawl – you can add a pompom in the colour of the shawl.
The size can be adjusted by going up or down a needle size, or by changing the yarn weight and adjusting the needles accordingly.
Yarn suggested: DK that meets the gauge, 50 – 80g. My Petronela is done in Garnstudio Drops Lima (65% wool, 35% alpaca, 50g = 109 yards / 100m), I did size M and used up the whole 50g skein.
Level: Adventurous beginner or intermediate. The hat is knit in the round.
