Product Description

Paintbox Yarns Simply DK is a 100% acrylic DK yarn, 302yds (276m) per ball, knitting to 22 stitches and 30 rows over 10cm on 4.00mm (US 6) needles; recommended crochet hook 4.00mm (F). Paintbox Yarns is our own brand, designed in house.

The palette is what sets it apart: brights, pastels and muted tones developed as one range, so shades chosen from opposite ends of it still sit together in a single project. That makes it a natural fit for striped and colorwork blankets, granny squares, amigurumi and children’s knits.

Acrylic keeps it machine washable and hard-wearing, and it takes a low tumble dry — worth having in anything made for a child.

Care: machine wash at 30°C, low heat tumble dry, cool iron, do not bleach.

Perfect yarn for charity knitting

I knit blankets for Battersea Dogs and Cats home. The DK yarn is soft, easy to knit, and very reasonably priced. I took at least 30 to Battersea last time and have donated previously, I can't say how many. I have a bag of at least ten waiting. I have started to use one colour but have done mixtures, preferably bright and cheerful but dark ones too. I have never had any trouble with the Paintbox yarns, always knot free and lovely to knit with. Thank you for lovely yarns.

It crochets up well, and there are lots of colours to choose from. It has a good price. I'm using it for a Hexi cardigan. On the down side. It often has knots. If you centre pull. It is often very tangled. And in one skein I had a random loose piece of yarn about 3 foot long.

Manufacturers generally consider up to three knots per ball normal, but we understand they can be frustrating. If you find more than three knots in a ball or feel the number is excessive, please get in touch, and we'll be happy to take a look. To help with tangling, you might find it easier to avoid pulling from the centre and instead use a yarn winder to wind the yarn into a cake or ball before starting your project. Great yarn for sweaters

I've used them before and was happy with the outcome. I am busy with another project so haven't started yet. I'm using it for a fisherman rib sweater. It washes well and keeps its shape.

Perfect yarn for tree skirts

I needed yarn to make a tree skirt for the Christmas tree at our village library. The Paintbox DK was perfect and now looks like drifts of snow for the tree. I used 4 balls of yarn, but will be making at least one more tree skirt for my family. It was lovely to work with, giving even tension and holding the shape well. The tree skirt is currently being stored along with the other hand crafted decorations for the library.

Perfect for multicoloured projects

I already had several balls of different coloured yarns by Paintbox, and I wanted it to combine with those I already had to make my first ladies crocheted multicoloured cardigan. It is very soft and easy to work with, soft enough to use the same left over yarns to make a child's cardigan. I am very pleased. I haven't mastered the art of photos but when my grandson returns from his holiday I will ask him to take one for me and send it on.
