Product Details
Ka-boom! is a variation on the simple boomerang-shaped scarf. It is worked back & forth in garter stitch, with simple mesh lace short-row sections worked in complementary contrast colours.
The pattern has been updated as of October 2020, for clearer instructions.
The original sample is knit in hand-dyed & hand-spun yarn. The contrast colours have been selected to complement speckles & splashes of contrasting colour in the hand-dyed Merino Fibre from Hedgehog Fibres,used for the main colour yarn. The shawl could also be knit in one single colour, or a combination of handspun and/or commercial yarns, even using stash leftovers for the contrast sections.
Gauge: 14 st & 34 rows over 10cm /4” in garter stitch A note: the finished shawl will stretch a lot; my original swatch was closer to 18 st per 10 cm/ 4” Please bear this in mind when choosing needle size. Gauge is not critical for fit, but changes in gauge will affect the size of the finished shawl and the quantity of yarn used.
