The Jaipur Wrap was inspired by the city of Jaipur in India, also known as the Pink City. The town was painted pink in honour of Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, who visited the city in 1883. The old part of the city has preserved the look of pink to this day.
The wrap is worked in different types of silk – raw silk and smooth silk alike, both in a twined and a combed version. The yarns vary in colour and thickness, creating an interesting and attractive piece of knitwear to be worn over the shoulders for mere decoration or for the pleasant warmth of the silk fabric.
The design is also available in a blue-green variation named Jodhpur Wrap from the city of Jodhpur, known for its many blue roofs.
