Interstellar Shorties

Interstellar Shorties are fun and colorful short socks. This pattern combines my love of knitting socks and a little bit of color, so I could practice my two-handed colorwork technique of holding one color of yarn in each hand. Knitting these shorties will give you plenty of practice for colorwork knitting without having to worry about carrying floats. They are knit cuff-down with a short row heel. You will use the magic loop method and knitting on short circumference needles in the round. Both are valuable skills in small circumference knitting. Other techniques you will use are German Twisted Cast-On, Shadow Wrap Heel, and Kitchener Stitch. This pattern includes some short video demo links.

With approximately half a skein for the main color and a mini skein for the contrast color, the yarn color options are limitless! Knit with leftovers, or shop for new bright and bold colors. Interstellar shorties are the perfect sock project for summer.
