Gardening Hat

This is “Ken’s hat”, which was a simpler pattern for my husband, adapted to have a brim for me. It is cool and comfortable for the summer, shields your eyes from the sun and could be made brighter or decorated, but as it is it will do for gardening! The brim is made more stable by turning up at the edge, so it doesn’t flop – if you prefer floppy, just don’t put the turnup on it. It does cope with a bit of a rain shower, but I don’t know how well it would do in a real downpour, as I haven’t worn it in one yet. As soon as I wore it, though, I was asked for one, and I had bought two ‘balls’ of the yarn in case I needed a second, which I didn’t, so I was able to make another right away and I was able to take a picture of the two.
