The Alpine Dirndl is my take on the rich stitch texture, knitted in embellishments, body hugging style and folk flair of the traditional trachten dirndl worn by women of the Alpine Bavaria in Europe.
The pattern is written in row by row format and also is fully charted. This will be an involved knitting requiring attention, patience and discipline on the part of a knitter. This is not a quick knit!
Gauge: 8sts x 12rs = 1" (2.5cm) over stockinette stitch
Use high twist dress yarn. Do not use 100% cotton or 100% acrylic yarns, or any other loosely spun yarns as they will become droopy and will not hold the shape of the cardigan.
