Elle the Elegant Elephant

Edward and Elle Elephant are created from a 2" ceramic ornament that was given to me as a gift.

The pattern is an easy knit, worked in garter stitch to similate the wrinkles on the elephants skin.

The female is holding a lily and sports a sun hat and the male is dressed as a modern cowboy with a vest and Stetson as clothing.

The special thing about this pattern is that the trunk of the elephant stands upright without any internal assistance from wires or straws. The way it is knit facilitates the trunk standing upright on its own and then curving forward at the tip. There are not many elephant patterns that achieve this feat and if you follow the pattern it will amaze you as it takes shape.

Also the legs are attached in the same manner as a sewing pattern to facilitate the elephant with sitting evenly and sturdily.
