It's a easy pattern to follow. I'm using a dk weight so its taking me a bit longer to knit up but its a real classic pattern. If taken care of, should last a long time.

What is Being Made
The 'Classic Cable' is a knitted baby blanket designed by Rocket Clothing London, measuring approximately 76 centimeters (30 inches) by 94 centimeters (37 inches). This versatile design works equally well for baby boys and baby girls, making it a practical gift or personal project for newborns and infants.
Craft and Primary Technique
This is a knitting project classified at an intermediate difficulty level. The blanket features cable knitting as its primary decorative technique, which creates the distinctive textured pattern that gives the design its name. Cable knitting involves crossing groups of stitches over one another to produce raised, rope-like patterns on the fabric surface.
Stitches and Cable Work
The pattern utilizes cable stitches as the main stitch technique. To execute cable work, knitters use a cable needle to temporarily hold stitches while crossing them over other stitches, creating the characteristic twisted effect. The pattern includes specific abbreviations and instructions for cable techniques, including a cast-on method using the cable technique to establish the foundation stitches for the blanket.
Materials and Yarn Specifications
This blanket is worked in DK weight yarn, a medium-weight yarn suitable for creating blankets with good drape and structure. The pattern recommends any DK yarn that pairs with 3.75mm (US5) needles. The sample blanket shown in the photograph was knitted with 100% cotton DK yarn, which provides breathability and softness ideal for baby items. The project requires 500 grams of DK yarn, equivalent to approximately 1420 yards or 1300 meters of yarn.
Needles and Tools Required
- A pair of 3.75mm (US5) single-pointed needles, 40 centimeters in length, or alternatively a fixed circular needle of the same size
- One 3.75mm (US5) cable needle for executing the cable stitches
Pattern Format
This design is available as a downloadable PDF pattern from independent designer Rocket Clothing London. The pattern is copyrighted material intended for personal use only and includes photography by Dawn Martin to illustrate the finished blanket.

Fantastic company
Lovely pattern, which I am really enjoying knitting. It is a fairly easy cable pattern which looks amazing so anyone who knows the basic garter and stocking stitch will be able to manage. Not done cable before- it explains how to do it, but there is alway you tube for a visual aid. So far it the instructions are completely correct. I will be using this pattern multiple times. I love the fact it isn’t Lacey so won’t entangle any tiny fingers.
