    About

I saw images of rope light rugs and baskets on Pinterest, but no patterns attached to the photos.
I acquired a couple of cheap LED rope lights (approx 10m in length) and some light 't-shirt' yarn. Hopefully I'll be able to recreate the ones I've seen on Pinterest!

I made two baskets, one using 'warm white' LEDs and the other using 'cool white' LEDs.

It's very important you use an LED rope light, as it needs to not produce any heat!

I kind of made this via trial and error, but if any one is interested in a 'pattern', I'd be happy to share how I made this.

Yes please! - just buying the wool - will one ball suffice? Thank you!

@Cathy C: Hey Cathy, make sure that it’s an LED rope light to begin with. My rope light was 10m in length, so one ball/reel of the hoooked yarn was enough with plenty to spare.

@Cathy C: For the pattern, I made a magic circle and hdc/htr into it 8 times, then sc/dc twice into each stitch so that you end up with 16 stitches in total. I joined the rope light in at this point. From then on it’s trial and error, i did 1sc/dc, 2sc/dc from then on, but if you find the increase is too much and the rope light isn’t sitting flat, it’s easily rectified. I found it was best to stop increasing after the 5th ropelight round. Good luck!
