Use one, two, four or even eight contrast colours. There are optional zigzags on the back of the leg too which allow you to use up even the odd yard of scraps. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThere is a little extra ease approaching the ankle and these extra stitches are decreased away again after the heel. The heel itself is worked with short rows, shadow wrap\/twinned stitches and two “boomerang” rows around the whole sock. You could easily substitute in your own preferred heel construction, but it is a lot easier than it sounds!\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe pattern can be worked at different gauges.
