I am hosting a TCAL for this scarf. You can find all the details on my blog.
This brioche infinity scarf is made by combining standard Tunisian crochet stitches with twisted stitches. It uses the cro-hook (double ended tunisian) technique and is worked in the round with one color used in the forward pass and the other color in the reverse pass. This is a reversible pattern and looks great on both sides. While I have used a gradient yarn, it will look just as good with solid colors too.
This (tested) pattern contains:
A photo tutorial for a gauge square that uses all the stitches used in the scarf. Step by step written instructions for the scarf (US terms) Tips and tricks Complete list of materials
This pattern is made in repeats of 28 stitches. The scarf in the pictures has 12 repeats. You can easily customize the size of your scarf.
Vajra Infinity Scarf by Arunima Goel
Project Overview
The Vajra Infinity Scarf is a crocheted infinity scarf designed by Arunima Goel under the KnitterKnotter brand. This downloadable PDF pattern creates a sophisticated accessory inspired by the beauty and rarity of black diamonds. The name "Vajra" references the Sanskrit word for diamond, connecting the design to its aesthetic inspiration. The scarf features an elegant diamond pattern combined with brioche stitch effects, making it a visually striking wearable piece.
Craft and Techniques
This project utilizes crochet as the primary craft method, specifically employing Tunisian crochet techniques. Tunisian crochet is a hybrid method that combines elements of traditional crochet and knitting, creating a dense, fabric-like texture. The designer has leveraged Tunisian crochet to achieve a brioche stitch effect, which is known for its dimensional, textured appearance and luxurious drape. This technique choice elevates the scarf from a basic accessory to an intermediate-level project with professional-looking results.
Stitch Details
The pattern incorporates brioche stitching as the primary stitch technique, which creates the characteristic bumpy, three-dimensional texture associated with brioche knit and crochet. This stitch is worked in combination with a diamond pattern that runs throughout the scarf, creating visual interest and geometric sophistication. The brioche effect provides both aesthetic appeal and structural integrity to the infinity scarf design.
Materials and Yarn
The Vajra Infinity Scarf is designed to be worked with 4-ply yarn, which provides an ideal weight for creating defined stitch definition and drape in Tunisian crochet. The pattern specifically recommends using variegated yarn, which features multiple colors within a single strand. This color variation enhances the diamond pattern visibility and adds visual complexity to the finished scarf. A crochet hook appropriate for 4-ply yarn weight is required to complete this project.
Difficulty Level
Rated as an intermediate difficulty project, the Vajra Infinity Scarf is suitable for crocheters with foundational skills who are ready to explore more advanced techniques. The Tunisian crochet method and brioche stitch effects require understanding of specialized crochet techniques beyond basic stitches, making this pattern an excellent choice for skill development and creative exploration.
