This classic fisherman-style hat is crocheted in short rows. Crocheting short rows is my favorite technique for making hats. This hat is worked flat in rows using the most basic crochet stitches: single crochet and single crochet worked in the back loop only (BLO). If you can do a single crochet stitch, then you can make this hat!

I love using short rows to create hats because there is no gathering at the top, so you end up with a perfectly fitted hat every time.
