The stitch patterns are fairly easy to memorize and makes for a mostly mindless and rhythmic knit once you settle into the knitting.
The pattern is written for DK weight yarn in 2 colors. But the design is quite adaptable to other yarn weights and yardages as well. I have included some directions in the pattern for such modifications.
This shawl uses an asymmetric construction that starts with a small cast on and is increased along one edge. The body of the shawl uses a 2-color slip stitch pattern in the bias. Stripes of mesh stitches are used for the border. The two stitch patterns approximate the look of syncline folds. The result is a visually pleasing and stylish accessory.
