The square cabled sections of this blanket are separated from each other by a few stitches or a few rows of garter stitch. Although it is knit all in one piece, it almost looks as though it were knit in separate squares and sewn together.

This blanket would be a great way to experiment with a few new cable patterns and create a stunning baby gift at the same time.

The deep texture makes a thick, squishy blanket that would be wonderful to lay a newborn on.

Although the directions provided are for a baby blanket, with a few small adjustments and a bit of ambition, this would make a beautiful throw or afghan as well.
