Product Description
Necessity is the mother of invention – the triangle sleeve was invented to stretch 3 skeins to make a sweater. It worked!
Sweatrrr is a fun, funky, slightly tailored but not too clingy sweater knitted all in one go from the cast-on to the hem with the Ziggurat Method.
Small intarsia squares run down centre back and front. The contrasting rolled neck is knitted last. The set-in sleeves are also knitted top-down and in the round.
A bold triangle insert is knitted into the right sleeve as a finishing (yarn-saving) flourish. Not a seam in sight.
Instructions for (optional) bust darts and waist shaping are also included.
Shown in Fyberspates Vivacious 4ply (MC) and Wollmeise Pure (CC). A suggested substitute is below.

Sweatrrr: A Top-Down Fitted Pullover by Åsa Tricosa
What is Being Made
The Sweatrrr is a fun and funky fitted pullover sweater designed by independent designer Åsa Tricosa. This is a top-down knitted garment that combines a slightly fitted silhouette with modern design elements, creating a contemporary sweater that is not overly clingy. The design features decorative intarsia squares running down the centre back and front, along with a bold triangle insert on the right sleeve. A contrasting neckline adds visual interest as a finishing detail.
Knitting Techniques and Construction Method
The Sweatrrr is knitted entirely in one piece using the top-down construction method, eliminating the need for seaming or joining separate pieces together. This seamless approach creates a clean, professional finish throughout the garment. The sweater body is worked in the round from the neckline downward, allowing for continuous knitting without interruption.
The set-in sleeves are also knitted top-down and worked in the round, maintaining consistency with the body construction. This technique ensures proper sleeve cap shaping and integration with the body. The intarsia technique is employed to create the decorative small squares that run vertically down the centre front and back of the sweater, adding visual texture and pattern interest. A bold triangle insert is knitted directly into the right sleeve as a distinctive design flourish.
The contrasting neckline is knitted last, allowing the designer to complete the sweater body and sleeves before adding this final decorative element. This approach provides flexibility in finishing and ensures the neckline sits perfectly on the completed garment.
Stitches and Stitch Techniques
While specific stitch abbreviations are not detailed in the pattern information provided, the Sweatrrr employs fundamental knitting stitches appropriate for 4ply yarn weight construction. The intarsia technique requires careful colour changes and yarn management to create the geometric squares and triangle design elements. Working in the round utilizes circular needle techniques, which is essential for the seamless construction method used throughout this project.
Yarn and Materials
The Sweatrrr is designed for 4ply yarn weight (also known as fingering weight), which creates a lightweight yet structured fabric suitable for a fitted pullover. The primary yarn recommended is Fyberspates Vivacious 4ply, a merino yarn that provides softness and elasticity. This yarn yields 365 metres (399 yards) per 100 gram skein.
Yarn quantities vary by size: sizes S through M (81–102 cm / 32–40 inches) require 3 skeins of the main colour, while larger sizes L through XL (107–127 cm / 42–50 inches) require 4 skeins. Additionally, approximately 2 x 100 metres (110 yards) of contrasting 4ply yarn in two different colours is needed for the intarsia squares and accents. The pattern photographs feature Wollmeise Pure in Campari Orange and Herzblut for these contrast elements.
Alternative yarn suggestions include Fyberspates Sheila's Sock, The Uncommon Thread Lush Sock, or Super Sock—all suitable 4ply options that will produce similar results.
Needles and Notions
The pattern requires 3 mm (US 2.5) circular needles in lengths of 80–100 cm (32–40 inches) for working the body and sleeves in the round. Additional needle sizes and notions are referenced in the pattern but not fully detailed in the provided content.
Sizing
The Sweatrrr is available in a comprehensive range of sizes from XS to XXL: 81, 86, 91, 97, 102, 107, 112, 117, 122, and 127 cm finished bust circumference (32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, and 50 inches respectively), ensuring a suitable fit for various body types.
Difficulty Level
This pattern is rated as intermediate difficulty, making it suitable for knitters with foundational skills who are ready to tackle more complex techniques. The top-down seamless construction, intarsia colourwork, and set-in sleeve shaping require intermediate-level competency and attention to detail.
