Product Description

Stylecraft Special DK is a 100% acrylic DK yarn in 100g balls, each holding 295m (323yds). It knits to 22 stitches and 30 rows over 10cm on 4.00mm (US 6) needles; recommended crochet hook 4.00mm (F).

Its reputation rests on two things: a very large palette developed to coordinate, and a smoother, softer handle than acrylic usually has. That combination is why it is a standard choice for projects that need a dozen shades to sit together — crocheted squares, stripes, colourwork blankets and children's knits.

Being fully synthetic it is machine washable and hard-wearing, which is what you want in a blanket or anything made for a child.

Care: delicate machine wash at 40°C, low heat tumble dry, cool iron.

Perfect yarn for my blanket project

I'm using this yarn to make Sunshine and Showers, a beautiful row by row blanket designed by Janie Crow. I love the color choices and the unique stitch patterns that are always a part of her designs. This DK yarn is excellent for this project. It allows me to keep my tension consistent, and the stitch sizes the same. That’s important since this blanket is made in four pieces, with two identical pieces on the top and bottom, and two identical pieces sewn together in the middle.

I have used Stylecraft many times before and am always pleased with the result. The range of colours is excellent. The yarn is easy to knit and free of breaks.
