Scraptastic Shawlette with Crochet Button

This simple shawlette is great for using up “odds and ends” from your yarn stash. The crocheted button lets you wear it around your neck or shoulders easily (even if it’s smaller than a typical shawl), and guarantees that your button matches your color choices. Tips for adjusting size including selecting yarns and hooks are included in the pattern.

Skills used Basic crochet stitches: chain, double crochet, half double crochet, single crochet Working in rows (for the shawlette) and rounds (for the button), working in the back loop only, increasing, and joining new colors

Materials Approximately 500-600 yards (457-548.5 m) in any medium weight yarns. Sample uses Cascade Yarns Longwood and Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash.

H-8/5 mm and I-9/5.5 mm crochet hooks, or any sizes needed to obtain correct gauge.

Yarn needle.

Stitch marker (optional).

Gauge 16 sts x 8 rows in pattern = 4” (10 cm). Exact gauge is not critical for this project.
