Product Description
Whether you dress it up or down, this is the perfect top for summer, or dressing up an outfit for holidays at any time of the year. With extended shoulders, the lace pattern drapes over the top of the arms for a feminine touch. Work the body in the round in stockinette with waist shaping for a flattering fit, beginning with a narrow ribbed hem. Before reaching the armholes, begin working the lace pattern at the center of the front only, deceasing stitches each time a new repeat of the lace pattern is added to compensate for the change in gauge.
The shoulders are joined using Three-Needle Bind-Off, then the stitches for the sleeves are picked up along the armholes so the sleeves can be worked in the round to the cuff. The neck is edged simply by the stockinette bind-off; to make sure the front neck is smooth, once the initial bind-off at the center has been worked, slip the first stitch of each subsequent bind-off row, then tighten it slightly.

Rosemont Pullover by Therese Chynoweth
What is Being Made
The Rosemont Pullover is a standard-fitting knitted pullover sweater featuring ¾-length sleeves. This intermediate-level design is available in eight sizes ranging from XS to 4XL, with finished bust measurements from 32¼ inches to 60 inches and lengths from 22¾ inches to 27¼ inches. The pullover is designed to be worn with 2–4 inches of positive ease for comfortable wear.
Knitting Techniques and Construction
This pullover employs fundamental knitting techniques suitable for intermediate-level crafters. The pattern uses circular needles in multiple sizes to accommodate different sections of the garment, including 16-inch, 24-inch, and 32-inch circular needles. The construction method involves working with fingering weight yarn, which requires attention to gauge and stitch definition. The pattern instructions are written for the smallest size with larger sizes provided in parentheses throughout, allowing knitters to customize the fit to their measurements.
Stitches and Stitch Work
While specific stitch patterns are not detailed in the provided pattern excerpt, the Rosemont Pullover utilizes standard knitting stitches appropriate for a fingering-weight garment. The use of multiple circular needle sizes suggests the pattern incorporates techniques such as working in the round for the body and sleeves, with potential ribbing or other stitch variations to create structure and shaping throughout the design.
Materials and Yarn Specifications
The Rosemont Pullover is designed for fingering weight yarn, classified as Super Fine #1. The pattern requires between 954 and 1983 meters of yarn depending on the chosen size. The sample shown was knitted in Shibui Knits Koan, a luxurious blend of 70% linen and 30% mulberry silk, which provides breathability and elegant drape. This yarn is available in 248-yard hanks, with yardage requirements ranging from 5 hanks for the smallest sizes to 9 hanks for the largest sizes. The sample was worked in the color #2041 Pollen.
Needles and Tools
The pattern calls for US 3 [3.25 mm] circular needles in multiple lengths: 16 inches, 24 inches, and 32 inches. These needle sizes and configurations are essential for working with fingering-weight yarn and managing the various sections of the pullover, from ribbed cuffs to the main body.
