Product Description
Inspired by traditional Ossetian silk shawls, this elegant and delicate filet crochet design reinterprets an ancient textile tradition through crochet. Delicate geometric motifs and airy lace create a lightweight shawl suitable for special occasions or everyday elegance.
Originally designed for Simply Crochet Magazine (Issue 146), this pattern combines cultural inspiration with a modern crochet technique.
Traditional Ossetian shawls were woven with exceptional finesse before being embroidered by hand. Their geometric and nature-inspired ornaments carried symbolic meanings passed down through generations. This pattern pays tribute to that heritage while adapting it to filet crochet.
The pattern also introduces my personal method for working filet crochet double crochet stitches, explained step by step and accompanied by a free video tutorial available on my YouTube channel Naturofils. The result is a smoother, more even filet crochet fabric, particularly suited to openwork.
