Nanook means polar bear in Inuit. The blanket shows a mother bear with her adorable cubs. One cub, riding the mother bear, is worked in contrasting colour using Intarsia technique. A second cub, in frolicking position, is worked in the same background colour. An alternative easier option without intarsia is to knit the whole blanket in the same colour as the background. In the latter case the yarn usage remains as 4 balls, and the contrasting colour yarn is not needed.

Well explained and solidly good pattern. Rating reflects that I did not like end result as much as I had hoped. Liked the result generally. Came out pretty well with acrylic. May have been better with recommended yarn.
Knitting pattern
Easy to read pattern and the finished product is very effective with the polar bears in a different stitch! Very pleased with it!
I have not made this blanket yet but plan to start soon. It is a very cute pattern and I am making it for a friend’s daughter who is having her second boy!
Nicely packaged, delivered on time correct order
Super fast and easy. I used Ultra Pima and reduced the needle size. This produced a pretty and soft blanket that the parents love. I also choose a lighter blue for the main color --- which did not work out as well as I anticipated. So I suggest going with the suggested colors or otherwise keeping the contrast high between the mother and baby.
Good basic pattern to follow.
Love the pattern! It's easy to knit, but has some challenging variety. Very cute and original design for a baby blanket.
