Product Description
Moonrise is an ornate crescent shawl which begins with a textured pattern of twining lines and eyelets, and evolves into a beautifully intricate lace.
It was inspired by a peaceful backyard camping ‘trip‘, and a skein of breathtakingly beautiful yarn, and uses a secret code stitch pattern by Naomi Parkhurst, based on the word moonrise.
The design suits heavy lace to fingering yarn, in solid, semi-solid, gradient or subtle speckle varieties.
Both parts of the shawl can be repeated to any size, making it adaptable to any yardage.
Please note this pattern is chart only.

Moonrise Crescent Shawl by Nim Teasdale
What is Being Made
Moonrise Crescent is an ornate crescent shawl designed by independent knitter Nim Teasdale. This downloadable knitting pattern creates a beautifully shaped shawl that begins with a textured stitch pattern and evolves into intricate lace work. The design is inspired by a secret code stitch pattern by Naomi Parkhurst, based on the word "moonrise," and captures the peaceful atmosphere of a full moon rising through evening grass.
Yardage and Adaptability
The Moonrise Crescent is highly adaptable to a range of yardages, from 400 to 900 meters (435 to 1000 yards). Both parts of the shawl can be repeated to any size, making it flexible for different yarn quantities and desired finished dimensions. The pictured sample uses 400 meters (435 yards) of fingering weight yarn and measures 160 by 38 centimeters.
Techniques and Stitches Used
This advanced-level knitting pattern employs ornate lace techniques combined with textured stitch work.
