Pattern Sections and Panel Layout

The Illustrations panel is divided into four distinct panels, each trimmed to specific unfinished measurements before being incorporated into the quilt layout:

Patchwork Blocks and Units

Flying Geese Units

The Flying Geese units finish at 2⅜" x 4¾". This is one of the most beloved classic quilt blocks, traditionally constructed by pairing a large rectangle with two smaller corner squares to create a triangular "goose" shape pointing in one direction. In this pattern, assembly begins by drawing a diagonal line on the wrong side of (48) 2⅞" off-white squares. These are then paired with 2⅞" x 5¼" rectangles cut from the Layer Cake squares, with the marked off-white squares placed right sides together at the corners of each rectangle. Sewing on the drawn diagonal line and trimming away the excess creates the signature angled triangle unit. Flying Geese units add strong directional movement and visual rhythm to the quilt layout.
