Laila Persian Lantern

I am in love with the deliciously warm and colourful mosaic glass lanterns from the Middle East. I have been gifted a variety of them over the years and have them hanging in the house and around my garden. When lit up with a candle inside, the bright colours glow and sprkel evoking a mysterious energy. They were part of the inspiration to make this crocheted lantern pattern. The crocheted lantern is from a simple construction of granny squares stitched together into a tube which is then easily attached by a metal hoop. This pattern will show you how to make the tassels, hanger and a little battery tealight holder inside so your lanterns can glow and sparkle.

US crochet terminology

This pattern is for a 20cm metal hoop, however I have included a reference guide to show you how to adjust the pattern for a smaller or larger hoop for the lantern.
