These are free instructions on how to attach jute sole to a pair of felted slippers
You will need to have purchased a felted slipper pattern from me, so that you can follow the sole instructions
The soles are knitted on straight knitting needles size 6 and uses fine twisted jute that you can get from any hardware store. Basic knit stitches, Skill level, easy to moderate, hand sewing involved. Important instructions for slippers before machine washing for felting technique.
Pattern includes a materials list, detailed instructions (in English) and some tips.
These soles are designed to “hug” your foot with a comfortable arch just like your slippers. They make the slippers more durable as well as flexible. You may choose to treat the bottoms of your jute sole for better outdoor wear.

What Is Being Made

Knitting Techniques and Construction
This intermediate-level knitting project uses garter stitch as the primary stitch pattern for creating the soles. The soles are knit flat on straight needles, with left and right soles knit using identical instructions. The separate sole construction method employed in this pattern prevents the need to felt the slipper before sole attachment, preserving the structural integrity of the finished garment during the felting process.

Materials and Tools
Yarn: The pattern recommends fine twisted jute (190 feet), which can be purchased at hardware stores. Alternative materials include cotton yarn or nylon for sole construction. The primary slipper is worked in worsted weight yarn according to the main felted slipper pattern being used.
Needles: US size 6 (4.0mm) knitting needles are specified for sole construction.
Additional Materials: Straight pins, row counter, and yarn needle are required for assembly and finishing.

Gauge is 19 stitches and 15 knitted ridges over 4 inches in garter stitch, essential for achieving properly sized soles that coordinate with felted slipper patterns.
