Product Description

This pattern brings two islands together; the yarn was naturally dyed by Shilasdair in the island of Skye on the west coast of Scotland then sent to the island of Burra in the Shetland Isles in the north of Scotland where I designed and made the shawl.

The pattern begins by knitting a lace edging in a wave inspired motif representing the sea that links our islands together. Once the edging is complete, the stitches along the straight side of the edging are picked up and a series of short rows in comforting garter stitch are completed to create the gentle curve of the body of the shawl.
