Product Description
This is a simple and unique blanket, made using the Filet technique of crochet. This pattern is written in US terms. (There is a listing for UK terms too). It is such an addictive technique to use as you slowly see the pattern emerging with each finished row.
It uses DK yarn and a 4.5 mm hook but you can use any to suit your preference but this will alter the size of your blanket. It uses approximately 400g of yarn. 100g for each heart panel and 100g for the separating sections and border if made following this pattern. A larger blanket will need more yarn.
The pattern consists of written instructions as well as a chart and shorthand instructions. There are instructions on how to amend the size of the blanket too.

Infinity Hearts Blanket by Stitched Up By Emma
Project Overview
The Infinity Hearts Blanket is a beginner-friendly crochet blanket design featuring a decorative heart motif. This downloadable PDF pattern from independent designer Stitched Up By Emma produces a finished blanket measuring approximately 25 inches by 30 inches, making it an ideal size for a small throw or baby blanket.
Craft and Technique
This project is worked entirely in crochet using the filet crochet technique. Filet crochet is a classic openwork method that creates a delicate, lacy fabric by alternating filled and open spaces. This technique allows crafters to work geometric and representational designs, such as the infinity hearts featured in this blanket, by following a charted pattern that guides which stitches to work and which spaces to skip.
Stitches Used
The Infinity Hearts Blanket employs fundamental crochet stitches suitable for beginners:
- Chain (CH) - Used to create the foundation and turning chains throughout the pattern
- Double Crochet (DC) - The primary stitch that forms the fabric and creates the filled portions of the filet design
- Single Crochet (SC) - Used for shaping and finishing details
- Slip Stitch (SLST) - Employed to join rounds and create seamless transitions
- Skip (SK) - Used to create the open spaces characteristic of filet crochet
Materials Required
The pattern calls for Stylecraft Special DK yarn, a lightweight yarn weight ideal for creating delicate, detailed work. The blanket uses a total of 240 grams of yarn distributed across four coordinating colors:
- 60g in Raspberry (Colour A)
- 60g in White (Colour B)
- 60g in Blush (Colour C)
- 60g in Soft Peach (Colour D)
Additional materials include a 4mm crochet hook, a tapestry needle for weaving in ends, scissors, and optional stitch markers to help track progress through the pattern.
Gauge and Sizing
The pattern specifies a gauge of 15 double crochet stitches by 9 rows measuring 4 inches by 4 inches. Achieving the correct gauge is essential for the blanket to reach its intended finished dimensions of approximately 25 inches by 30 inches.
Difficulty Level
Classified as a beginner project, the Infinity Hearts Blanket is accessible to crocheters new to the craft. While filet crochet involves following a charted pattern, the stitches used are basic and the technique is straightforward once understood, making this an excellent introduction to working with charts and creating textured designs.
